Here are some basic informations about Deerhound

FCI Group X. - Sighthounds

They were originally bred for hunting deer, but today they are great companions.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : Scotland / United Kingdom

BRIEF HISTORY (summary)

Shaggy haired hounds have been known to exist in Scotland since before the 16th century. It is thought that short-coated hounds were introduced to Britain before the Roman invasion. When these hunting dogs were used in the Scottish Highlands they were at a disadvantage because of their short coats. These hounds were then probably crossed with native hairy-coated dogs to get the Deerhound. They were used, in packs, by the Scottish Chieftans to hunt deer and had to be strong enough to pull a stag to the ground. When guns were introduced and the forests began to be cut down in the early 1700’s these dogs were no longer needed. Some were still kept but they did not become popular again until the 1830’s. They have not changed in appearance very much over the centuries and are still relatively few in number today.

GENERAL CHARACTER AND TEMPERAMENT

The Deerhound is a gentle, intelligent, friendly dog. They get on well with children but do not make particularly good guard dogs; they are not known to bark a lot. Most Deerhounds still have a very strong instinct to hunt so early introduction to other household pets, especially cats, is necessary.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

The Deerhound should have a long head, broad at the ears and tapering to the eyes, the muzzle tapers to the nose. The jaws should be strong and have a complete scissor bite. The eyes should be full and dark in colour with a soft look. The ears should be high set, small in size, folded back and semi erect. The neck should be very strong and quite long. The chest should be deep but not too narrow. The front legs should straight, broad and flat, the back legs should be broad, long and powerful. The feet should be firm and well knuckled. The tail should be long, slightly curved and be well covered with hair. It should almost reach the ground but should never be carried above the back. The coat should be shaggy but never woolly. The hair on the head, chest and stomach should be much softer than the hair on the body, neck and legs. The colours desired are self-colours in dark blue/grey, dark or light grey, brindle and yellow, sandy/red or red/fawn. Some white is allowed on the chest and toes, the less white the better.

Here are some basic informations about Boston Terrier

FCI Group IX. - Companion and Toy Dogs

They were originally bred as ratters, and it is thought even as fighting dogs, today they are mainly companion dogs.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : U.S.A.

BRIEF HISTORY (summary)

The Boston was, in the 1800's, originally a cross between an English Bulldog and an English White Terrier. More crossbreedings were carried out and the Boston was further developed. This occurred around 1893. The breeds used for this further crossing were the English Bull Terrier, Boxer and the Pit Bull Terrier along with other terriers. Originally the Boston weighed over 20kgs but was bred smaller and smaller until they became the size we know them as today.

GENERAL CHARACTER AND TEMPERAMENT

The Boston is a lively and intelligent little dog that can be quite determined and strong willed. They are very good with children and make ideal house dogs. They can be quite boisterous and do love to play. Care must be taken that games are not too rough as they can be prone to injury, especially the eyes as they bulge out slightly. They do love human company and make affectionate pets. They also make excellent watch dogs, and are not yappy with it. If introduced to other household pets when young there will be no problems.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

The Boston is a small happy dog that can be a little boisterous at times. They have a short, square muzzle and a square skull. They are short coated and short tailed. The chest is not as deep as the other bull breeds that they have descended from. They have thin ears which stand erect at the corners of their flat skull. The thighs of this dog are strong and well muscled. They carry themselves with an impression of determination and strength. Their gait is one of ease and grace. The eyes of the Boston are quite prominent and bulging.

They were originally bred as sight, scent and sound dogs and today are used for hunting and as companions.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : Morocco / North Africa

BRIEF HISTORY (summary)
This breed is truly a living piece of history, revered by the Bedouin tribesmen, and as highly valued as an Arabian horse. In the days of the great Sheiks, the Sloughi was one of the most prized possessions, and you can imagine what happened if anyone should harm a Sloughi! They are as noble and proud as the Bedouin themselves, who decorate the Sloughi with talismans and amulets. Bedouin women have been known to nurse Sloughi puppies should the need arise. When a Bedouin goes visiting, his Sloughi is treated with the same respect as any honoured guest, and tribesmen will willingly give up their blanket for their Sloughi should they be cold. And when the Sloughi dies, the grief of the Bedouin is apparent and the hound is mourned with much dignity. There is evidence of the Sloughi dating back to the Ancient Egyptians, and indeed a mummified body of a Sloughi has been discovered in a tomb.

GENERAL CHARACTER AND TEMPERAMENT
They are devoted to their family, therefore once you have a Sloughi, it is yours for life, they do not change homes easily. They are not a noisy hound, and like most hounds seem to have an affinity with children. They are independent dogs that have an inbuilt desire to hunt and have the stamina to keep going. Cats and other small animals are seen as prey to this dog that hasn't been socialised with them from an early age. Not a breed suited to someone who has little time.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
The Sloughi should have a flat, fairly broad skull, with a wedge shaped muzzle. The skull and muzzle are roughly equal in length. The jaws should be strong with a complete scissor bite. The eyes should be triangular, slightly slanted, large and dark in colour. The ears should be triangular shaped and carried close to the head. The neck should be relatively long, strong and arched. The chest is not too broad and the topline is almost level and short. The front legs should be well muscled; the back legs should be long and well angulated. The feet should be thin, long and oval in shape. The tail should be thin with a curve at the end and is never carried above the topline. The coat should be short, tough and fine. The colours desired are cream, red, sand, fawn, with or without black mask, also brown mantle, and various brindle colourings. They must not be black or white, or parti-coloured. Or have any white on the body, such as saddle markings or collars. White is permissible on extremities or chest. This dog should cover the ground well and quickly with no apparent effort, the movement is free and flowing.

I love walking and discovering London, sometimes even without A-Z, but than of course I always need to ask someone to help me find the wright way to the main street or underground station :). Usually I do my "city route" after a research (of my interests) on Google ... and this is a best solution if I want to save time and energy. In both cases I prefer walking than using bus or underground, because in this way I see more interesting things around me (in the city).

London is helping me to refresh my mind, ideas ... is like a market :) ... you pick what you like and then after coming home, you start to cook a gooooood meal from all fresh ingredients. And guess what? ... well, I just started to design a new fantastic collection :) ... so, keep in touch :)

SLO : Končno spet doma :) po dolgem potepanju. Po Budimpešti je takoj sledil še London in tako komaj sedaj sledi poročilo oz. čestitke in fotografije našim prijateljem :) . Čestitke Marii Lazarevi iz Italije (Russkiy Azart Kennel) za odlične rezultate na Euro Dog Show v Budimpešti. Nov Evropski prvak med borzoji je njen Russkiy Azart Dagon, ki pa je tudi Verušin pol-brat. Zato je razumljivo, da smo ponosni in srečni za tak uspeh.

ENG : After a long travel (after Budapest I went to London) at last ... home sweet home :)) . Congratulations to my friends for great results in Euro Dog Show at Budapest. First congratulation goes to Maria Lazareva from Italy (Russkiy Azart Kennel) - her Russkiy Azart Dagon is new European Champion and we are very happy and proud too, because Dago is also Veruscha's half-brother (they have same father Rassvet Svetleyshiy Mirage).

SLO : V petek, 15. avgusta, sva se z Zoyo odpravili predstavit unikatne ovratnice in povodce Petiit Pethaus v Gradisca d'Isonzo v Italiji. Odziv obiskovalcev je bil zelo pozitiven in navdušujoč. Predvsem pa sva spoznali zelo prijazne in prijetne dvonožce in štirinožce :)
